Addressing the Impact of the Phasing out of
Textiles and Clothing Quotas in Lao PDR
Addressing the impact of the phasing out of textiles and clothing quotas in the Asian Least Developed Countries (LDCs) was lunched to help Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Nepal to overcome challenges posed by the phasing out of textiles and clothing (T&C) quotas. This project envisages initiating studies on key areas of human development concerns which a view to coming up with recommendation and conducting advocacy programmes which help these countries to create policy environments conductive to employment and export growth.
The project was implemented by the National Statistics Center (NSC) in partnership with the UNDP Asia Pacific Regional Centre in Colombo (UNDP RCC) which initiated the studies in all four countries. In the implementation, the NSC closely cooperated and collaborated with various stakeholders including government departments and line ministries, the private sector and international development partners. As a result, the study Addressing the Impacts of the Phasing out of Textiles and Clothing Quotas in Lao PDR comprises findings published in four volumes.
