Lao Info 4.1
Lao Info v.4.1 is a user-friendly common indicator database system. LaoInfo v.4.1 provides a key statistical tool for monitoring the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and a data source for the National Growth and Poverty Eradication Strategy (NGPES), the National Socio Economic Development Plan (NSEDP) and for other national development frameworks in the Lao PDR.
The user-friendly common indicator database system is integrated within Microsoft® Office Professional for presentations of development data in tables, graphs and maps. It includes data from national census, surveys, and the government reporting systems. The tool provides easy access to indicators organized by sectors, goals, themes, sources, institutions or conventions.
LaoInfo v.4.1 has been adapted in 2005 from DevInfo technology to Lao specific requirements by the National Statistics Centre (NSC), with the assistance of UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA. The database system is released to promote and encourage a dialogue among development partners by providing easier access to quantitative data across sectors. The data can be used for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation at national and sub-national levels.
The current version 4.1 provides data on national MDG indicators for Lao PDR as of September 2005. Further databases providing more data on other monitoring frameworks will be released, as soon as they become available. An upgrade to LaoInfo v.5.1 is expected to be released in 2006 in both, Lao and English language.
