The Role of the Survey Division
- Function
of Survey Division (Total:13 Female:2)
1. Research , create and develop methodology for the sampling survey and
non-sampling surveys;
2. Make plan and methodology by using sampling and non-sampling technique.
And including regular survey and irregular on socio-economic and environment;
3. Design and develop questionnaire and manual for each survey;
4. Organize training for the supervisors, enumerators by coordinating
with central sectors, provincial, district according to target of the
survey;
5. Conduct sampling and non-sampling survey
6. Create and implement the principle of consistency control of data,
summarize and process data from the surveys;
7. Analyze and create report on the result of the survey
8. Monitor and coordinate and record list of households, village, districts,
provinces and business units
9. Create meta data for the survey
The Role of the Economic Statistic
Divsision
- Economic Statistics
Division (Total: 9, Female:2)
1. Create and improve the system of National Account, compile, summary,
compute and analysis the macro indicators;
2. Monitor, coordinate with province to capture the change of prices and
produce consumer price index (CPI), producer price index (PPI), construction
price index and other prices..
3. Responsible for monitoring, compile, summary, analyze and estimate
the growth of economic sectors. Monitor and report the monetary change
and inflation in each period;
4. Coordinate with ministries, equivalent ministry, Department and concerned
organizations both vertical and horizontal line in compiling and report
economic data and support needed data for calculating the national account;
5. Create meta data based on GDDS on concerned indicators;
6. Be central of research, coordinate, internal cooperation, external
cooperation in the development and implement economic data methodology
and national account;
7. Research, summary, calculate and produce economic indicators;
The Role of the Division of
Information and Technology
- Function of
IT Division (Total: 7, Female:1)
1. Create and develop the IT system;
2. Install, maintaining and manage all computers, printers, photocopy
machine, and other commutation system in DoS;
3. Install and manage the LAN system and manage the servers;
4. research, build the security system within and outside the network
system;
5. Create and manage and arrange the database system;
6. Research and select technique and technology to develop and use in
the national statistical system;
7. Design and develop program for data entry, edit data by coordinating
with concerned Division;
8. Make data entry with computers and with scanner;
9. Coordinate with STEA on the management of the dissemination system;
The Role of the Administrative
Division
- Function of Administrative
Division (Total: 9 Female:4)
1. Record and manage number of staff
2.. Make human resource development plan, train staff on statistics concept;
3.. Research, make plan and summary regular work plan and attend the feed
back meeting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual
4. Manage all procurement, hire and maintaining properties belong to Department
of Statistics;
5. Responsible for any ceremony arrangement, coordinate with journalists
6. Research and implement social welfare to all staffs
7. Manage, summary and report financial in each period
8. Create
work plan, human plan to support all divisions within Department of Statistics.
The Role of the Social
Statistic Division
- Function of Social Statistics
Division (Total: 8, Female:3)
1. Create and develop data collection mechanism, summarize and analyze
demographic data, gender, labor and poverty;
2. Create, improve and develop village statistics system as tool to support
local government;
3. Monitor, summarize and analyze social sector statistics in each period
from sectors and locals;
4. Summarize and research on social indicators;
5. Develop socio-economic database or common indicators database system
(LaoInfo), to disseminate as well as give consultancy about the admin
and users module of DevInfo;
7. Coordinate with central and local sectors to monitor and produce meta
data (GDDS);
8. Create , improve and develop MDG database and indicators for monitoring
NSEDP;
The Role of the Methodology
Division
- Function of
Statistical Methodology Division (Total:4, Female:1)
1. Research, create principle, decree, law and regulation related statistical
methodology;
2. Research , create medium and long term strategic plan;
3. Research, create and improve ISIC system and publish;
4. Monitor and assess coordinative process on setting up statistical curriculum,
legislation and statistical methodology;
5. Manage and control the quality of statistical methodology;
6. Give consultancy on validation on how to use principle and statistical
methodology for sectors and local;

Data Service Division (Total: 5, Female:3)
1. Research on the principle of official data dissemination;
2. Research and design content and improve data and disseminate through
internet;
3. Design and produce publication by quarter, annual and other dissemination
tool;
4. Contact and coordinate with other sectors on the demand and supply
of statistics and other scientific technique;
5. Consider and analyze the demand of users;
6. Maintain official data to serve the public , integrate all publications
done by other division in DoS and by other cooperative programs with international
;
7. Organize and manage the library;
