Pilot Business Tendency Survey - 2001

Highlights:
This report presents the results of the pilot Business Tendency Survey undertaken in July 2001. The report is divided into two parts. Part A provides a description of the statistical methodology. Results from the survey are presented in part B.
The main objectives of the pilot survey were to:

Evaluate the feasibility of using complete enumeration and sampling approaches for the BTS survey;

Test all aspects of the survey field system including questionnaires, field supervision and logistics;

Evaluate the quality of area data reported by head of company and accounting;

Test the computer processing system.

All large and medium-sized enterprises in the two sectors Industry and Trade in four provinces. |

Survey units are enterprises. A person in management position at the enterprise was interviewed. |

design |
The population was divided into two strata according to sector (industry, trade). A random sample of enterprises was selected from each stratum. |
